Grounded Progress — Member Updates

2022 has been a challenging year across the board, but Grounded Solutions Network’s 262 Members continue to have wins and gains to celebrate. Here is a small sample of what has captured our attention over the past year:

  • With an initial investment of $14 million, the Pilot CLT Partnership Program in Los Angeles County preserved eight multifamily properties with a total of 43 residential units, enabling 110 individuals to live in stabilized affordable housing.
  • UHAB participated in Morgan Stanley’s 2022 Strategy Challenge and was one of nine groups selected out of 450 applicants, laying the groundwork for taking UHAB’s co-op incubator national.
  • The Oakland Planning and Development Corporation launched a program providing grant funds to BIPOC homebuyers to address the racial homeownership gap in their Pittsburgh community.
  • City of Lakes CLT brought their 350th home into trust and 1Roof Housing facilitated their 200th resale — go Minnesota!
  • Irvine CLT sold the first home in their 68-unit new construction townhome development.
  • Common Ground Wenatchee, Green Roots Chelsea, and Home on Whidbey all legally incorporated their organizations and are moving forward with operations.
  • Albany Community Land Trust completed the gut renovation on a home that resulted in their first all-electric home.
  • St. Joseph CLT moved forward with the first phase of their 248 Sugar Pine Village rental project.
  • The City of Chicago updated their inclusionary housing ordinance.
  • Homestead CLT and Africatown CLT worked together to complete the Village Gardens development in the Central District of Seattle.
  • The California CLT Network championed three bills that support the growth of CLTs, which passed through the state legislature.
  • Proud Ground, Bread and Roses Housing, Guadalupe Neighborhood Development Corporation, Partners for Better Housing, and State College CLT all welcomed new staff to their teams.
  • The Urban Land Conservancy opened Viña Apartments (150 rental homes) and Clínica Tepeyac under a 99-year ground lease in Denver.
  • OPAL CLT renovated and preserved two apartment buildings that would have otherwise gone to market-rate.
  • Jane Place Neighborhood Sustainability Initiative in New Orleans championed a right to counsel in eviction court ordinance that passed.
  • South Florida CLT acquired a vacant site in downtown Miami that will support a mixed-use project including 229 residential units.
  • WeBuild Concord secured 10 new properties to build 71 new units during their first full year of operations.
  • Douglass CLT doubled their membership to 200+ and launched the Pay-It-Forward Bargain Sale Program, acquiring their first home for $220k less than market.
