In January, Grounded Solutions was thrilled to formally launch the Home Futures Institute in partnership with our various members who collectively comprise the Northwest CLT Coalition. The fast-paced initiative is designed to build capacity and promote the development of nonprofit community land trust organizations across the state of Washington. Grounded Solutions and our partners will be co-hosting a series of virtual CLT workshops that will also be available nationwide. Stay tuned for more information!

Our staff team also worked alongside five shared equity home programs to be early adopters of the 2021 Model Deed Restriction. Congratulations to NeighborWorks Southern Colorado, Chippola Area Habitat for Humanity, Greater Portland CLT, River City Housing, and the Panhandle Affordable Housing Alliance for all of your hard work preparing for your next wave of housing development! If your organization is considering adopting the model deed restriction, we’d love to hear from you. Email your questions and feedback to helpdesk@groundedsolutions.org.

Our Technical Assistance Group engaged in a fee-for-service opportunity to collaborate with the Kephrew Institute in Indianapolis, Indiana — a grass roots led organization cultivating the creation of a community land trust in their neighborhood for several years. We assisted with exploring the many options and best practices leading to the creation of a community land trust. We helped build the proper relationships and identify the various resources required, based on a sustainable business plan that is focused on the production and preservation of housing with lasting affordability in a predominantly BIPOC neighborhood.
