My Take on Singapore Blockchain Industry Exploration

Our first event of 2019 was a huge success and I will like to share my thoughts and opinion of the roadshow.

Last month, we hosted our first roadshow in 2019, The Future of Blockchain: Payments and Scalability over at WeWork. It’s part of Singapore Blockchain Industry Exploration (SBIE) where we aim to gather industry and opinion leaders for networking and sharing session.

It’s an honour to have Finwex, Dexon, BluCon, and Hoolah as speakers for the night and here is my take on the event.

Out of all the exciting projects, one unique project that stands out to me is Hoolah. Hoolah is neither a blockchain nor a crypto company. However, they provide a disruptive payment alternative for consumers in the Singapore market. On a mission to create a stronger relationship between merchants and shoppers, Hoolah is a FinTech business providing an installment payment solution with zero interest rate without the need for a credit card for consumers.

From swiping our debit cards to just having to tap and go when we pay for our day to day purchases, it’s intriguing to see how payments are evolving in this day and age. I am excited to witness how Hoolah will revolutionize payment and it will be interesting if they adopt the use of blockchain as part of the development plan.

Having attended and organized a handful of blockchain events, SBIE was a refreshing experience for us at Grounded. With a mixture of blockchain businesses and a non-blockchain business, it definitely gave me a lot more insights into the topic of payments and its scalability.
