Grounded identifies as a new age consultancy. We get down to the basics to first understand the market landscape, competitors and target audience to help clients have a better sense of their business. Then, we provide recommendations for them to meet defined business goals. Lastly, and most importantly, we develop full-fledged execution strategies for successful results. To make this happen, our team members comes with diverse skill sets.

This week we are introducing to you another prized member of the Grounded management consulting team.

Meet Joey Lim, Creative Director at Grounded.

Q: Tell me a little about yourself!

A: I’m Joey, Creative Director at Grounded. I create and manage all our creative assets alongside our team of designers. I also help our clients translate their work into effective visual strategies. I’m the Dali of the team, and I always strive to push creative boundaries while staying relevant to the intended audience. A fun fact about myself is that I was trained in PR and Communications and taught myself all my design skills.

Q: How did you get to join Grounded?

A: I joined the company almost 5 years ago as an intern while I was pursuing my degree and have never looked back since.

Q: How has working in Grounded been like?

A: Everyday is a new challenge, and that is why I love it. No one day is the same, we could be working on our own products, working on our client’s marketing plan, jetting off to work with our remote teams, or even kickstarting an event, all in a week. Everyone is chill and yet such hard workers. I’m extremely proud to be able to work alongside my Grounded family.

Q: Grounded is about building an empire and leaving a legacy behind. How would you like to be remembered?

A: I would like to be remembered as a rebel — someone who was not afraid to speak her mind and push boundaries when necessary. In today’s world, so many are inclined to just go with the flow and never question authority. I think that gets people and companies stuck in a state of inertia, which really stifles growth. I would also like to be known for championing design-driven culture across all industries.

Q: Let’s get to know you on a more personal level. This or that quickfire!

Q: What is the most useless talent you have?

A: I can identify many genres of music — mandopop, kpop, EDM, top 40s, jazz, punk rock (which is why I am the karaoke queen).

Q: Describe your typical day in Grounded in three words.

A: Brainstorming. Food. Collaboration.

Q: What advice can you give about life?

Q: Last question, before we wrap this up, what are you passionate about?

A: I am passionate about diving into local cultures and heritage when I am travelling, it’s all about living the way locals do. I am also constantly googling and that’s how I build up my knowledge on everything. No knowledge is useless. My last Google search histories are: “how do blind people consume ads”, “Tristan cheated on Khloe again” and “how do I cut my nails without a nail clipper or scissors”. GOOGLE EVERYTHING. I am also constantly on Pinterest pinning inspirations, even when I am not working. Oh, I am also passionate about finding jalapenos flavoured chips from Pringles (if you know where pls HMU PLEASE).
