And The Prototyping Begins!
This week marks the gradual, exciting move towards the prototyping phase! Last week’s observations at the Galbraith study spaces, as well as the affinity diagramming exercise we did, led to preliminary ideas for our first iteration of prototyping, which centered around the “physical space” theme of collaboration. We discussed manipulating certain aspects of collaborative spaces, such as:
- table shape (circular vs. rectangular)
- table size
- number of chairs per table
- background music / noise
- furniture mobility
- comfortability of chairs
There was also talk of using our very own classroom as an experimental collaborative space, in which we’d invite students to work in it, while we change certain variables of the room to observe how they utilize the space. We are currently working on getting the appropriate materials to experiment with. On top of these preparations, we’ve planned to observe other collaborative spaces, including Geisel and the CS Labs, to potentially use for our prototyping spaces as well.
On a side note, we unfortunately lost one of our group members to Compilers this quarter, and we wish her well on her endeavors!
