GroupRoom now offers the ability to toggle spatial / proximity video chat algorithms off and on making it easier to spread out in a space and still chat and collaborate with your friends and colleagues.

By now, we’re all familiar with social distancing in public places but does it matter online? Apparently it does… 😉

While spatial audio is new and effective, some customers have told us that sometimes “you just want to grab a seat and still be able to speak with everyone in the room”.

Rather than everyone having to select the megaphone feature and shout across the room, we added the functionality to allow customers the ability to toggle our spatial audio algorithms off and on. Since this feature is at the room level, it remembers the settings for every event hosted in the space.

We still initialize group rooms to enable spatial audio by default but here is where you can override it in the room create and edit pages.

You can also toggle it off and on the user side by clicking on the room’s back page (hamburger menu) and toggling it on or off there.

This new feature works across all of our room configurations (matrix, fullscreen, infinite canvas, and even our new 3D / VR spaces). Now you can just grab a seat and speak with everyone in the room!

Reach out to us on Twitter or Facebook or drop us an email if you would like a demo of GroupRoom or discuss your event in more detail with us.
