GroupRoom’s proximity-based video chat and collaboration platform is most commonly used as virtual office space where both onsite and remote workers come to work (and play) all day. People can move freely throughout the space and video chat with people near them.

Most larger companies have already started engaging in hybrid workspaces; however, if one person is remote then the whole team must still operate like a remote team to be inclusive. GroupRoom allows these companies to simply upload their existing floor plan to a “group room” and instruct everyone to occupy their assigned seats and offices regardless if they are working onsite or remote making it easy to find your colleagues as it is/was in real life (IRL).

If your company does not have floor plan images to upload, there are a few other options available. You can always google large swanky office space images and floor plans and use them if the photo licenses permit; otherwise, you can create your own virtual office space floor designs!

We evaluated a few 2D and 3D design tools that made creating offices spaces rather fun. He’s a short list of the tools that we have recently evaluated:

We were very impressed with both Concept Draw and Room Sketcher especially since both applications include furniture to easily add to the space to make if your own. Here are a few examples:

Room Sketcher supports 3D office space building as well as professional services to help if needed!

These office space designs are perfect to use with GroupRoom’s “infinite canvas” spaces! In fact, the bigger the space where image height and width are larger than 3,000 pixels, the better the experience in our opinion.

Creating an infinite canvas grouproom is simple:

  1. Click the Create Room button
  2. Select the Infinite Canvas room style
  3. Upload your new office space image and submit

Now you are ready to invite your colleagues to your swanky new GroupRoom virtual office suite!
