First Impressions:

BumbleDate’s match page.

This app was different in the sense that you can date, make friends or network. The interface of the app might be minimalist in nature, but there is an element of liveliness to it as well given the yellow theme.

Pros:

BumbleBFF’s match page.
  • Interesting concept of tying dating, networking, and friendships all in one: We find the idea of being able to date, network and make friends all-in-one on a single platform quite delightful. In this way, we feel if you want to take a break from finding potential dates you could easily switch over to BumbleBFF and find yourself a #BFF.
  • Ability to seamlessly switch between sections: Switching from BumbleBFF to BumbleDate in the app is effortless. You don’t even have to mess around in the settings section and merely press the heading at the top!
  • Neat and fuss-free interface: The app’s interface is minimalist in nature, and visible features have been narrowed down to three principal sections: settings, main feed, and messages. Very simple and a breeze to navigate!

Cons:

Bumble’s profile section.
  • Networking part of the app not so apparent at first: The app’s tagline is “Date. Meet Friends. Network.” But when you refer to the app there is only a section of dating (BumbleDate) and making friends (BumbleBFF) and none for purely networking (i.e., BumbleNetwork). From this, we induced that networking on the app is through both sections as seen by how the jobs of members are displayed prominently. It was a little confusing at first we must say.
  • Time limit on matches: You only have 24 hours to speak to a match and exchange details. That’s a little short in our opinion.
Backtrack feature does not always work: The app has a backtrack feature that allows you to go back to a swipe you passed over initially. While we feel it is useful, it is not the easiest to handle (you have to shake your phone vigorously, and at times the app does not seem to pick up that you’re shaking your phone).

Final Verdict:

The section of Bumble where you can switch from BumbleDate to BumbleBFF.

Bumble is pretty good app as it offers the opportunity to create new friendships as well as date. In this way, it caters to a larger group of people seeking genuine digital interactions and not just daters. As an app that could make networking more on-the-go, it shows great promise.
