Take part in our photo competition and help us launch our Instagram!

The contest is for any individual GROWer and Community with an active growing space. However it is an amateur photography competition, so no photography professionals please!

Capture your harvest into a photo with any kind of equipment (mobile phone, point-n-shoot camera, DSLR, etc.) and be creative in the caption! Think about — What image best shows off your harvest? What does growing look like where you are? What’s the hardest part of growing? What are you proudest of growing?

Here are some ideas to get you started — you can:

  • Describe your growing space and harvest
  • Share a poem or a haiku
  • Spread your ideas on growing techniques and challenges
  • Or share your thoughts with us your way

Make sure you use GROW’s mention/handle and hashtag. Enter on Instagram or Facebook. You can enter as many photos as you like, but only one photo per post. Multiple hashtags are encouraged but make sure you start by mentioning @growobservatory #GROWharvest to enter the contest. Without these, we cannot include your entry.

Contest dates are:
Week 1–28 October — 3 November
Week 2–4–10 November
Week 3–11–17 November
Week 4–18–24 November

How do I know if I’m a winner?
By growing food, we are all winners. Oh, you mean the winners of the photo competition? Those specific winners will be selected by the GROW team at the end of each week-long contests. Our primary criteria will be people’s response to your message (likes and comments), as well as your context and content strength to convey your message to diverse audiences.

Note that by entering the contest, you are giving the GROW Observatory permission to use your entry for future promotion and dissemination on Instagram, other social media and GROW channels.

The prizes
Each week, one entry will win a copy of Graham Burnett’s book A Beginner’s Guide to Permaculture, which can help you develop your GROWing skills, techniques and ideas.
