Gamer’s Delight: Data, Data, Data with FACEIT Co-Foudner Michele Attisani
Imagine the data which flows from 30M+ game sessions. Voice, jumps, moves, bumps, hits, time, on and on.
FACEIT, an esports platform with over 15 million registered users founded in 2012, is collecting infinite data points and using them to inform their business and innovation strategies.
In the most recent episode of the Hypergrowth podcast, I speak with Michele Attisani, Co-Founder and CBO, about FACEIT’s two main pillars of data: business intelligence and innovation. [Spotify]
Business intelligence focuses on the opportunities for FACEIT employees, at every level of the company, to leverage data to inform their decision making — in regard to game development, partnerships, and operations to name a few. What I found interesting was the aspect of how brands, who want to make data driven decisions for product placement, can determine if a product is relevant and if it could be integrated within the FACEIT landscape based on the proof from the data on hand. Michele stated that previously endemic (gaming) brands would primarily be interested in partnering, but now, non-endemic brands have discovered a new sweet spot.
Data insights not only generate opportunities for partnership product placement and monetization. For Michele, the innovation pillar is FACEIT’s special sauce — the secret ingredient being gaming data. They’re able to analyze gameplay to develop innovative solutions such as cheating detection algorithms and Minerva, an Admin AI to monitor for anti-toxicity in games. Here takes place a competitive battle for maintaining fair and inclusive game play that is ever evolving.
