Peony Prequel
Home Depot sells a bag of peony tubers around in March. Last year, I planted two tubers in a 6 inch pot and three tubers outside by my apartment door. I didn’t have big enough pots to give the tubers recommended spacing but both tubers planted indoors sprouted by the end of March. One tuber planted outside sprouted by April 20th.
I unfortunately tipped over the pot more than 5 times, which seemed to have disturbed the roots. None of the tubers gave me a flower that year.
This year, I saw tiny peony sprouts next to my door in April. I really didn’t expect them to sprout since the soil next to my door is very shallow and winter gets really cold in Wisconsin but I guess they’re sturdier than I thought. Seeing the peony grow every time I leave the house somehow made me feel more confident. Seeing the peony every time I get back home also gave me a lot of joy. I’m not qualified to rate this plant since I didn’t really take care of it, nature did. I’ll buy another tuber, plant it indoors and rate it next year.
