‘For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision. ‘ — Romans 2:25

Reading through Romans 2, you’ll notice it’s a call for self-reflection.

We are under a law

Let me explain, we are definitely under law as saints, but it’s not the law of the letter — which only brought a consciousness of sin — like they had in the old testament.

‘For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. ‘ — Romans 8:2

Every law has stipulations

The requirements of this law we operate under are also clearly stated as:

‘I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. ‘ — Galatians 2:20

We also see this in scripture:

‘Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: ‘ — Matthew 3:8

It is possible to walk away from the faith

‘Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.’ — 1 Timothy 1:19–20

‘My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. ‘ — 1 John 2:1,4,6

‘Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. ‘ — 1 John 2:18–19

We must walk pleasing Him

‘My beloved ones, just like you’ve always listened to everything I’ve taught you in the past, I’m asking you now to keep following my instructions as though I were right there with you. Now you must continue to make this new life fully manifested as you live in the holy awe of God — which brings you trembling into his presence. God will continually revitalize you, implanting within you the passion to do what pleases him. ‘ — Philippians 2:12–13 (TPT)

‘That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; ‘ — Colossians 1:10

‘That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, ‘ — Ephesians 1:17–18

To please Him, we need to grow; we can only grow by studying the Word and praying consistently.

‘But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word. ‘ — Acts 6:4

Action for today

Prayerfully meditate on this Pauline prayer:

‘And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God. ‘ — Philippians 1:9–11
