A Month of Poetry (Candy)

There is nothing so sweet
as circling the top
of your street
dragging a bag full of candy.

The taste of sugar, so near
it dances and sings
in your ear.
Running your weary mind ragged.

Spilled out across the den
we open our eyes to
throw caution at the wind
and cram these confections inside us.

And when we sleep, we don’t dream
instead, we go numb,
and return to the scene,
aching for one more

happy, joyous Halloween.

Happy Halloween, my loves.

It’s October and that means that KG is kicking off a month of poetry today. As my good friend Amy Lee said “Remember, the whole point of Poe-tober is not to churn out verse but to immerse ourselves in poetry. What a beautiful endeavor…”

I couldn’t agree more.

If you liked my poem please clap (50 times!), highlight your favorite bits, and comment. Please subscribe to my Medium page if you would like.

Thank you to Growl Publication for hosting this party. Thank you for reading!
