Facebook and Twitter launched their transparency tool for advertising.

In the context of user transparency, GDPR regulation and dark posts abusive use, this integrated tool means more access to information for consumers and advertisers.

Users can check out the ads you’re currently running, including the ones that aren’t shown to them.

Users can filter your ads by location and flag anything they think inappropriate or if you feel they violate Facebook policies, and they will then be reviewed (violent, sexual, or any other lousy adjective you can imagine).

Now, your industry rivals have the power to see all of your running Facebook advertisements and to Flag them.

How can you take advantage of that? 🤔

Whenever a new update comes out, people feel stressed out and ask themselves:

“How will our strategy need to adapt to stay ahead? What exciting opportunities does this present for us?”

As a marketer, you are always looking for inspiration to deliver the best content possible to your audience.

1°You can track your competitor’s dark posts:

Dark posts are the social posts that you’re using for your ads without publishing them in your page.

By using dark posts, you’re able to promote the right content to the right audience, without making it look like an irrelevant ad.

This tactic has been used for brands that wanted to target multiple audiences without showing to all their fans.

This technique is not necessarily finished, but it may turn grey instead of black, as everyone will be able to access your ads from this tool.

2°You can understand your competitors goals and uses:

By using the Facebook tool, you’ll be able to check your competitors’ current ads to gain a huge understanding of their methods, their targeting campaigns and more over their goals.

Be smarter than your competitor’s and use it in an intelligent way:

  • What creative are they using?
  • Are they planning seasonal campaigns?
  • What language are they using?
  • Which product are they promoting and how many ads are they using for them?

Use this tool more as inspirational to overcome your competitor’s.

Facebook ads transparency tool:

Every Facebook Page now have a new button called “Info and Ads.”

Just go on a page and click “Info and Ads” at the bottom left of the page.

Click “Info and Ads”

Facebook will show you all the current ads running

Current Facebook ads running from this page

This tool will help you to get inspiration or to compare with other brands, with your competitors or with complementary brands.

Also, note that 90% of people will not use functionality like “Ads transparency” and doesn’t even know that they exist.

You can also search for ads that you didn’t know were running, then you may not have been in the target audience.

Facebook requires people to have and sign in to a Facebook account to access the tool.

You’ll see the ads that the page is currently running in your location.

On the right, you can select other related pages (as you see: Levi’s Nigeria, Levi’s Egypt ….)

Alternative to Facebook ads transparency:

Moat is designed to display advertisements.

You just need to paste the name of the brand you want to see ads.

One last word 🤭

In today’s Facebook world, where organic reach is going down, ads and boosting posts is a fantastic way to improve visibility and reach targeted and narrow audiences.

The ability to see what your competitor’s are doing is also a good source of inspiration to deliver the best content quality to your audience.

This Tool is changing the game,

Take some advance and use it intelligently :)
