Day 1/38 Lettuce Evolve Kickstarter
Today started bright and early before 9 am on the west coast…even earlier for the founder of LettuceEvolve, John Murphy. He pulled an all-nighter to finish the details on the Kickstarter.
It’s 6:17 PM (PST) and we have four amazing backers to bring us to $1,157. So excited!
How It Began
Just to give a background to how I started working with John. We met on Instagram a little over 2 years ago. It’s crazy how time passed and we still kept in contact. We started to become closer friends and started our working relationship earlier in 2015. He’s one of the clients I saw coming from a mile away with battle wounds from a failed Kickstarter and a bumpy startup ride. He has an enormous heart and genuinely cares about his friends. Whether you are talking to him over the phone or messaging him back and forth, you can feel the authenticity from his voice and actions. At this point, I knew I met someone worth working with even if I wouldn’t benefit in the short term. I also started to see the progress he was having on his Instagram account which now has over 30k followers.
The crazy part? He growthhacked his way to 30k followers himself.

What’s My Role?
I saw John could benefit from having a strong Twitter following which is something i’m used to building. I love the community on Twitter and there’s no doubt he can bring his quirkiness to this badass world.
As i’m experimenting with my approach with clients, i’ve started to test different ways of managing clients accounts and brands. I have found that by having a social CEO/Founder, the company has an advantage at stake.
Nothing is more empowering than a leader that understands the business landscape, variated advertising/marketing channels, differentiated communication styles, and the power of good ol’ social media networking.
John and I tag team the Twitter responses and tweets. We have a similar voice so it’s easy to intermingle with him. I’m lovin’ it.
Whats Going On Right Now
So far, we hit 3k followers on Twitter (two months ago it was less than 100). We have 4 backers and just broke $1k. We are now 1/100th of the way there! We submitted our startup to RandomStartup.org.
EDIT: We ended the day with 9 backers and broke $2k. We are now 2/100th of the way there! Woohoo! Thank you to all our early backers. You are changing the world as we know it. ;)
