When I was younger, my mom would say to me everyday that I have to learn how to appreciate all the goodies in my life around me. This includes saying thank you after receiving something.

One of the biggest things you can do in life, especially when it comes to sales is by learning how to say thank you after every conversation. This does not mean that it has to be a “closed” deal. It could be any type of conversation or networking conversation.

Saying thank you at the end of the conversation has personally done me wonders. People tend to remember that last moment and appreciate you for the sweet final words.

Even if the deal doesn’t fall through, I still like to say thank you for your time and that I look forward to working together in the near future! This allows me to follow up with them at a future time to revisit the deal.

Doing this a few times, I was able to revisit a few deals that wouldn’t have initially came through and made it happen. One staff even told his boss how he remembers me because of our awesome conversation.

Creative Ways To Say Thank You In Sales

Expressing appreciation and saying thank you doesn’t necessary need to come out from words, it can come from all types of different formats. This ranges from “creative marketing tactics” or simply sending a postcard.

Here are a few things that you can actually do:

Make an introduction that can help their sales/growth

In sales, referrals are arguably the most powerful way to drive revenue. Send an introduction to a between two customers of yours. Connect those dots; they’ll love you for it. Be an introducer.

Follow up with a thank you call a few days later

After your initial conversation, wait a few things and call up the prospect to thank them once again for their time and see if you could offer any help.

Congratulate them on something you come across!

Show them you care by stopping your busy day and congratulating them on a piece of information no other vendor of their’s would know and even think of acting on.

Send them a postcard or gummy bears!

Send them some good old gummy bears, t-shirts, company swag, postcard, or anything along the lines to remind them of your company and your relationship. These type of thank you goes a long way!

Make a video just for them

Man this will NAIL any future deals, get creative with this one :)

Well there you have it sales folks, now you don’t have an excuse to not make any execution and show appreciation!
