Given the non-damaging nature of the manning documents, I believe there is no ethical issue involved in publishing that information for Assange. The spread of information is a generally positive act. I do not believe that being party to the acquisition of the manning documents would make the act of sharing them unethical, just because something has been deemed Illegal by those who will suffer negative consequences, doesn’t make it unethical.

Given the fact that Assange is essentially in danger of being extradited to Sweden on trumped-up charges (failing to appear for charges that were ultimately dropped from lack of evidence), I do not believe it would be ethical for him to be extradited there. This is a dangerous idea, that you may be damned for an action you have not committed.

I do believe it may have been ethical for Ecaudor to shelter Assange for these past years, but this does not make the sudden cessation of their asylum inherently unethical. Given the consequences of such an act, however, I believe it does fall on the unethical side of things. This is not countered if, as rumored, Assange was “kicked to the curb” for spying on Ecaudor.
