Creating a Unifying Movement

We’re a tight group. I guess we must be by now, considering we’ve been rehearsing with each other every day for 2 weeks. It’s been a lightning fast process, preparing for our performance, presentation and networking with fellow youth activists. And finally, we are now packing our bags, ready for an incredible 3 weeks ahead.

Dark Oreo’s Revenge, a Green School satire original performance, starring us Green School students, highlights Indonesia’s palm oil industry and the need for collective action in the climate movement — a lot of laughs guaranteed! As a group of internationally diverse students, we decided to play roles that represent the stereotypical sides of us. For example, yours truly as an Aussie plays the bogan tourist — no surprise I am able to imitate the thick Australian accent. We’ve managed to pull off group bonding through laughing over our character’s lines.

As the next 3 weeks in Bonn begin, GS Green Gen’s COP delegation will be as strong as ever. Obviously, we’re going to know each other’s lines off by heart by the time we get back to Bali.

As a unified team, our message of youth empowerment will be sure to be heard in Bonn and beyond — with a performance that represents our group’s unification, and a call to action. We are going to contribute to the climate movement, representing Indonesia and the youth. We are fighting for the protection of our Mother Earth, and our future.
