We are officially launching the online preview of “Atlas”! After months of research and testing, “Atlas” will launch three months earlier than initially expected. The launch of “Atlas” will accelerate the development of the GSENetwork ecosystem, empowering the developer community and users to participate at a deeper level.

Developers can access all source codes, data and resources of “Atlas” from Github here.

Code compilation command

The team has been tirelessly working on the main net and this initial version of the test net preview “Atlas” consists of several core functions:

  1. High concurrent processing capability, support for high concurrent transactions, effective reduction of impact of non-related transactions on TPS
  2. Per second transaction logging, drastic reduction of block confirmation time, after a block has been packaged, it will be verified by two outbound cycles
  3. Implemented external verification for real-world applications, first batch of support for “Ride and Earn” program in partnership with ofo Singapore for mining and cycling transactions
  4. Launch of GSE Block Explorer 1.0

Why “Atlas”?

“Atlas” refers to a titan in Greek mythology which is portrayed as holding a globe on his shoulders, signifying the undertaking of immeasurable responsibility. Naming the test net 1.0 “Atlas” signifies our commitment to take on the extensive responsibility of consolidating and development of the open source blockchain technology, building a strong foundation for the next generation of the global sharing economy.

In “Atlas”, we will continously explore technology innovation which can be implemented in future versions of our main net. Our aim is to drive the growth of a next-generation global sharing economy, building a decentralized global sharing economy network. For applications such as online car sharing and bicycle sharing services in the sharing economy, the transaction frequency of entry into the blockchain network would significantly increase during peak hours. Therefore, improving the transaction processing efficiency of the blockchain is a key issue for GSE research. Based on this, GSE intends to adopt the Delegated Proof of Stake (“DPoS”) as the basis for processing and consensus on transactions.

Compared with the traditional consensus mechanisms such as PoW and PBFT, DPoS can maintain high transaction processing efficiency when the number of nodes is large. In the future evolution, the GSE blockchain will also use sidechain technology. At that time, in the vicinity of the original blockchain, a number of subsidiary blockchains that can interact with them will be derived, which are called “sidechains”. Each side chain has different technical characteristics and carries different types of applications. Transactions from an app will be sent to a specific sidechain. Each side chain processes the transaction in parallel, thereby enhancing transaction processing in an all-round way.

When there is a large number of nodes, the transaction processing efficiency can still be maintained.

In addition, GSENetwork has developed a unique DService platform that consists of basic smart contracts running on blockchain nodes, providing a variety of templates for advanced applications that developers can adapt from. The DService smart contract templates include multi-dimensional user credit rating module public pricing module, anti-fraud module and order dispatch module. Each developer can select modules according to specific business needs to tailor-make solutions.

These functionalities will be available on our main net at a later time. We will now move on to sharing the key highlights of our main test net “Atlas” including high concurrent processing power, transaction per seconds verification, external interactions and GSE Explorer 1.0.

High concurrent processing power
GSENetwork is a public chain that is perpendicular to the sharing economy. Supporting high concurrency and high user volume is the primary problem for technology. In order to adapt to the high concurrency state, the GSE system optimizes the system from various aspects. Firstly, the system architecture design reduces many unnecessary processing at the architecture level. Secondly, the multi-thread processing mechanism is adopted to greatly improve the processing efficiency. In the database aspect The GSE team also optimized to reduce query modification time and added the use of the cache database.

Transaction per second verification
Under normal circumstances, compared to the PoW nodes need to solve complex mathematical problems to compete for the right to block out, the DPOS super node directly makes the block making decision and verify, greatly reducing the time the block is confirmed. time. GSENetwork adopts the PBFT+DOPS consensus mechanism. After the new block is packaged out of the block, the new bus will be broadcasted to all the super nodes. At that time, other super nodes will perform block verification. After each super node is verified, the verified message will be broadcast to all other devices. node. When the total number of super nodes that have been verified reaches two-thirds of the total number of super nodes, the block verification is completed and the entire transaction confirmation process will be two outbound cycles.

External transactions
GSE has always been ahead of the industry in terms of application landing and external interaction. As one of the functions of the GSE test net, the data on chain will be first experienced in the test net. At present, the GSE test network can support the Singapore ofo bicycle mining and cycling data transaction. After obtaining the ofo user license, riding data such as mileage, riding time, cost, etc., to form a transaction that can be packaged into the block, it will be recorded on the chain. These data can be used both to build a credit file and to provide a basis for later shared bicycle deployment. In order to achieve data collaboration on the chain, GSE will also introduce the Oracle mechanism. The oracle is a special feature used to interact with smart contracts and the outside world. On one hand, external data is collected through tools such as IoT and GPS and on the other hand, the collected data is encapsulated into transactions and processed by specific smart contracts. As an adjunct to the blockchain, the predictor broadens the channel of data sources and serves as a bridge between the outside world and the blockchain.

GSE Explorer 1.0
In order to create visibility for the activities on the test net, we created an Explorer page. Users can visit https://gsescan.io/ for more details.

As per the above illustration, various data sets can be obtained from the GSE Block Explorer including Average Block Time, Supernode Distribution, Total Supernodes, Network TPS, etc. In future, a virtual machine (GVM) will also be added into the GSE Block Explorer.

Future plans
“Atlas” is the biggest milestone of GSENetwork till date, which means that the launch of the GSE main net is just round the corner, and we will continue to be committed to the virtual machine development, optimization of consensus mechanisms, security protection, etc. We would like to extend our gratitude to the GSE community for your support. Moving forward, GSENetwork will continue to push for the development of shared economy and lay the foundation to build the next-generation global sharing economy, creating a high-throughput, unlimited expansion, stable and trusted bottom-level public chain!
