British Labour party leader Jeremy Corbyn has made supportive remarks after being asked about people’s right to self-identify their gender.

Corbyn made the comments to to Andrew Marr on the BBC’s The Andrew Marr Show.

‘Let’s look at the human beings in front of us’

Corbyn was asked by the host: ‘A big story for the Labour party today. Do you think that a self-identified transgender woman is a woman?’

He replied: ‘Yes, the position of the party is that where you’ve self-identified as a woman, you are treated as a woman.’

The political figure was then furthermore quizzed about feminists and old friends, ‘like Linda Belos who are really worried that that very elaborate structure created by the Labour party to ensure there are more woman MPs and to push women further in, further up the Labour party, is being in some way compromised.’

‘These people have been through a big decision’

Jeremy’s response? ‘I’m very happy to meet and talk with them. […].

He furthermore added: ‘The point is where there’s self-identification […], these people have been through a big decision, a big process, a big trauma. Let’s look at the human beings in front of us.’
