AMA: GTA Ventures x Kollect

On October 12th, Ethan Chae — CSO from Kollect with GTA Ventures hosted an AMA live session at GTA Trading Community.

Kollect envisions becoming the premiere hub for collectibles and play-to-earn games for world-recognized brands and IPs.

Part 1: Introduction

  1. Hi Ethan, can you please introduce yourself as well as the Kollect project?

I am the CSO at Kollect. To simplify what I do here at collect, I’m in charge of strategy and business dev such as designing the token economics and the overall service design!

Kollect is a gamified collection card platform for any branded IPs. Its Collection Book system Kollect.book has a unique built-in play-to-earn feature, allowing users to strategically stake their cards in different collection books to maximize their rewards. Kollect.book enables flexible gamification of collecting activities. Kollect will also publish play-to-earn games built around its IPs where the users can put their collected NFT cards into real actions. Each of the branded IPs can have their own games and in-game currency.

2. Each project has their own story. Do you mind sharing with us the story behind Kollect? Can you describe what Kollect is in a few sentences?

I got involved in crypto because my friends from college used to mine bitcoin out of their laptops. I used to think it was something quite funny then I ran into the whitepaper on bitcoin and then it all started from their. For a long time, I used to work in and out of the industry, because I always had my own gig.

Then I ran into Vincenzo through some mutual friends. Vincenzo, our CEO, has done many gaming projects mainly using existing IPs like animations and webtoons, and successfully turned them into games. I have founded and sold e-commerce companies before with brand licensing at the core of the business. We met up to kind of catch up and Vincenzo told me his idea about a gamified NFT platform that can generate yield for its users.

I thought this idea was really fascinating as I was very much involved with finance and IP content in my previous projects. We agreed that the NFT market has a huge potential to grow with the participation of major franchises, so we began to devise a detailed plan for Kollect!

I just gave an introduction about the Kollect Project but to simplify it down to one sentence: Kollect envisions to become the premiere hub for collectibles and play-to-earn games for world recognized brands and IPs.

Pre-select questions

  1. Southeast Asia is a very vibrant market which could bring Kollect other competitors. Which elements will help Kollect to earn the spot in the market?

Kollect is not just limited to earning a spot in the Southeast Asia market, but our comeptitive edges and features of our project will make it earn its spot in the global NFT and crypto market.

The main reason we conceived Kollect is because although the market is so saturated, there are apparent issues that have not yet been addressed such as : Difficulty onboarding new users outside crypto community, Extracting value from owned NFTs, and most importantly, lacking FUN.

We created Kollect so we can help address these issues and catapult the growth that the NFT space has to offer.

Onboarding Non-Crypto Users: With our partnerships and globally recognized IPs, we believe that we can help convert the non-crypto public into the market by making the technology approachable towards the respective IP fandoms using already familiar characters and lore.

Extracting value from Owned NFTS: Once you minted an NFT, there wasn’t much the owner could do to interact with the NFTs other than trading and hoping for an increase in its demand and thus price. We plan to incorporate methods such as our one-of-a-kind Collection Book so that NFT owners can further leverage their assets and stake them to earn yield.

Lack of Fun: Collecting needs to be fun and interactive, but a lot of NFT games weren’t really high-quality games that were fun to play. It seemed like the users were forced to repeat the same actions for the sake of profit. Our PVP Card Battle Game along with our RPG in development offers users both fun high quality games, along with a chance to be highly lucrative.

In regards to specifically addressing the Southeast Asia market, many of the IPs that we hold and are planning on launching have strong popularity within the region. According to the data, the Southeast Asian market has shown even more interest and popularity of our IPs which we are sure will help us gain a strong and fast foothold in the region.

We also see the case of our play-to-earn feature being a major reason that will help our platform thrive within the region. As shown in recent news, play to earn games such as Axie Infinity have been monumental in helping regions that are underdeveloped bring in much needed income during the COVID-19 pandemic. Kollect will due the same in that we hope to bring a source of income to those that actively play our game and received the alotted rewards throughout our ecosystem.

2. Can you tell us some of the latest achievements made by the Kollect & can you describe in detail the current development efforts, such as market expansion plans, expected applications & new upcoming program of events? @Rubyy2021

I believe we just answered this question within our introduction to our company providing a roadmap as well as recent milestones. You can find the information pasted above.

To be a little more specific, the platform beta launch is expected in early November which will also be accompanied by constant updates, introduction of more games, introduction of more reward programs, and the integration of further IPs. All of these aspects are already in development and we will share with our community a more specific timeline as the release dates get closer.

Market expansion plans have already been underway with the build up of local communities around the world. I will provide a list of our local communities that have already been built up below.

You also raised question about events that Kollect is running. We are constantly running events so that our Kollectors can get rewarded by being involved in the community. We have already launched and finished events such as (1) Community Grand Opening event in which we distributed $25,000 worth KOL along with 100 NFTs to our community members. (2) OKEX Direct Listing Event in which we distributed 156 exclusive NFTs to those that particpated in the OKEx promotion (3) Our meme event that is currently progressing! (4) Bitmart listing which is scheduled for tommorow will have its own rewards , the details will be released in the near future so make sure to stay up to date on all our community channels!

We will make sure to constantly provide fun and rewarding events!

3. One of the features of Kollect Cards is Synthesize in which we can synthesize our cards and acquire a new card with a higher rarity. Can you explain more about synthesizing? How does it work? In acquiring a new card with a higher rarity, will users have to pay additional fees? @FishSecretNo1

Not all cards are obtainable by simply purchasing them on our marketplace. Some require the synthesis of cards in order to aquire them with higher rarities. (Some recipes will be open for the public, while some are hidden and are up to the users to find out the needed arrangement of cards)

In order for users to synthesize cards, they will have to do it within our platform. There is a fee that will need to be paid in the form of KOL.

4. Almost 80% investors have just focused on price of token in short term instead of understanding the real value of the project. Can you tell us on motivations and benefits for investors to hold your token in long term? @Nhut12345667888

Ultimately, as with all projects, investors hold tokens for a project believeing in the future growth of the project and its impact within the market. If you have been paying attention to our medium articles and our communication channels, you can see the constant growth and attention that Kollect is receiving.

We are partnered with not only reputable investment firms that are known to be highly selective in their investments, but we have already disclosed some of our key IP collaborators: TOEI and Daewon Media. Although we have more partners and IPs in our pipeline that have not been disclosed as of yet, these two companies alone shows the growth potential of Kollect becoming the premiere hub for NFT collectibles and play to earn games.

Daewon and TOEI have distributed brands and IPs in Korea such as : Power Rangers, Vectorman, Fullmetal Alchemist, Doraemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Kamen Rider, Digimon, One Piece, Sailor Moon, Fairy Tail, Slam Dunk, Dragon Ball Z Kai, Dragonball GT and much much more.

5. There are two staking programs in Kollect: Public collection book and Private collection book. Can you explain the difference between them? What profits can users get from each?

The Collection Book is a way for users to simply interact with the cards as a collector. The system enables flexible gamification of the collecting activities. At the same time, the publisher (IP Holder/Creator) can control the rarity, balance the difficulties, set new missions and hidden recipes even after launching the NFT cards!

There are two types of collection books: Public and Private

1) Public collection book: You have to compete with other users to mint the rarest NFTs in the collection. The first one to mint that NFT can claim the slot by staking a sum of $KOL along with the NFT. The user will be rewarded based on both the amount of $KOL and NFT’s score.

The yield will vary based on how much score you contributed compared to all the other users. You will be rewarded out of the same pool, so you are competing to achieve more and contribute more to the collection books.

2) Private collection book: You have to collect as many NFT cards as possible in your collection books. Each collection book is a mission of its own (like collecting all female Power Rangers or Villains). If you complete your collection book you can stake your collection book (therefore your NFTs) for a reward.

We implemented this system so that Kollectors have the opportunity to earn both active and passive incomes. Passive income by ‘Staking’ their NFTs in our collection books, and Active income by grinding through our games and completing the allotted missions, and receiving KOL. More on this will be disclosed very soon!

Live-question

  1. Do Token holders have right to participate in the governance of the project? On what kind of decisions can they vote on about the project?

To answer, We are centralized in the beginning stages of our projects because we will be managing which IPs and Brands enter our ecosystem. Once our platform is actively running and we have a strong community, we will hand over the governance of our platform to DAO in which they will vote and decide which brands and IPs can enter our ecosystem.

2. What strengths does the Kollect group have and what will break down in the near future?

Kollect offers:

1. Collectibles built upon signature IPs: We have partnered with major IP holders and create digital collectibles cards with IPs like Power Rangers. We already have many more amazing IPs in our pipeline.

2. Staking Yield & Play-to-Earn Game: Our NFT cards are not just appealing pieces of collectibles, users can use those NFTs for both passive and active income. They can use the collection book system to stake the NFTs and earn yields. Or they can play the game to actively engage with the NFTs to win reward tokens. During the conversion process, the rarity level or classes of the NFT cards will decide the stats of the characters and items in the NFT games in Kollect.

In the first beta version of Kollect, we will have primary and secondary markets, collection books, game launcher and in-platform game, which will launch one by one starting this October. Users should choose Kollect because it addresses all the issues found in the current NFT space. We address the lack of extraction value of owned NFTs, the lack of fun, and have huge growth potential onboarding already established fandoms from a variety of globally recognized IPs.

3. What is the role of token in the ecosystem? Where can users currently buy it, and what would be its use?

KOL is essential to actively participate within our ecosystem.

$KOL will be used for:

1) Synthesis: Users can synthesize (and burn) the cards for higher rarity card or hidden cards

2) Enhancement: Users can enhance their cards (NFTs), like leveling up the card and unlocking hidden recipes that only open under certain achievements.

3) Conversion: Users can convert NFT cards into items and characters in games connected to Kollect, and also out of games

4) Staking: User can stake $KOL along with NFT for yields. And additional VIP perks.

5) Purchases: Users can use $KOL to buy special collection books and other VIP items with special effects. Some of our exclusive edition NFTs will only be available in $KOL.

Currently You can trade $KOL at OKEx, Uniswap, and MEXC. And you can start trading $KOL at Bitmart tomorrow!
