Which ‘Nature Positive’ universities are the best at mapping their biodiversity?
During the April 2024 UniBioQuest, we’ve already seen over 300 participants submit sightings of over 760 species from over 5,000 hectares awakened as ‘Nature Realms’.
We’re almost halfway through the competition, and the leaders are claiming strong positions out in front. However with two weeks to go, there are still many contenders for the championship. Let’s take a look at the Top 5 Universities so far:
1. The University of Göttingen, Germany — Holding on to top spot for the last week with a strong effort of 100 sightings coming in of over 81 different species.
2. Sorbonne Université, France — Benefiting from a Nature Realm that also includes the neighbouring Jardin des Plantes, the Sorbonne team have submitted 82 sightings of 77 species
3. The University of Hong Kong, China — 88 sightings of over 52 species.
4. University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka — 78 sightings of 45 species so far
5. University of Helsinki, Finland — 55 sightings of 26 species
