The free tools I’m using to start my business
Seven products I couldn’t live without and why
About a month ago I launched my studio, Gubbins. It’s my consulting business, where I’m helping people get the most out of their Notion workspaces. This is my first time creating something this big, and I’m learning a lot of things as I go.
Thankfully, my years as a product designer has given me some advantages. I know how to plan and launch work in chunks, then test the results and iterate. I also have experience with the right tools, and know how to bootstrap the things I need to get my business going.
Especially if it’s something new, it doesn’t make sense to sink a lot of money and effort into a new venture right at the start. If you have an internet connection, you can do the same things I have without paying a penny.
Here are the main tools I’m using to get my business going, why I chose them, and how they’re helping me. 🚀
Notion
Notion is an all-in-one tool where I can manage my notes and plan my projects. It’s strength is that it’s highly customisable, so I can design my workspace in a way that suits me.
