This is based on the out-of-production Earthquaker Devices Crimson Drive.

It’s a bit like a Distortion pedal and a fuzz pedal got together and made a baby.

It is based around a single germanium transistor and two germanium diodes. It is an open sounding drive with amazing harmonics and raw grit . It cleans up nicely using the guitar’s volume control and sounds great with both with single coils and humbuckers.

The transistor is an OC139 germanium transistor and the germanium diodes are both 1n60p.

How does it sound? Well…

Clean tone for comparison

With Red Angel Drive added

With Red Angel Drive, higher gain setting.

.

All of my pedals are built by hand (mine), as you can probably tell. :)

The main board is cut and laid out from a blank piece of stripboard (aka Vero).

(the little green board is just a tiny circuit board that makes wiring the stompswitch easier, from mammothelectronics.com)

The graphics are my own design, also applied by hand.

Destroyed. Rebuilt. Broken, Mended. Annihilated. Remade. Nothing special.
