Right now, I feel like a grumpy grandpa, that tries to sum up how internet changed our lives, but ends up instead blaming the www for having broken so many things. Internet fucked up our memory and our sexuality, music industry and publishing, retail and politics. It’s an endless, incessant, fast revolution, that intersects our lives, with a massive impact. It’s no coincidence that the word “disruptive” has grown more and more popular in the last few years, for describing all the stuff that got messed up in the digital era.

It’s a fact: internet moves faster than you, so you just gotta have to adapt yourself to it and turn down your awkward try to change the status quo. Smart brands understood that internet is a mess, but it’s also a huge opportunity, as soon as you understand its main quirks.

In fashion, brands understood how important Instagram is, and so they changed the way how they define their look, using it as main channel and adapting their image to a new visual approach. Instagram (and so the internet) fucked up the fashion industry: huge collections, expensive look-books and big, seasonal campaigns are done, forever. Instagram starves for content: there’s a need of being unique and standing out, updating your style, your voice, even your soul, every month, every week or even every day, to catch the attention of an audience that is constantly bombarded by images and content, with a super volatile and poor attention.

Collages are a thing

Mixing product shots with a collage effect is a very important trend.

With collages you can communicate your collection’s mood, overlapping still life pics to images that show the atmosphere you want to reproduce.

You can also use them to emphasize your products designs and patterns…

…or to dare with bold experiments.

Cool brands use videos within collages

One step forward can be done adding some motion to your content.

You can animate the background or you can also put together collections’ shots and videos, made specifically for your content.
