QuickBytz
Designing the logo & complete interface for food-tech app.
Now very long ago, a friend of mine, Rohit, visited me to discuss an idea to build a mobile application to facilitate the proceedings of a food-court in malls, etc.
He simply wanted me to design it, and I did.
The idea has now grown into a start-up and soon may we try to penetrate the dine-in market. But this article only focuses on the design journey of QuickBytz : the app to make fast-food faster.
QB was a Dubai based startup which aimed at becoming a robust Queue Busting platform. Our objective was to use Machine Learning algorithms to inflate production efficiency, reduce the cost for the vendor and eradicate waiting time for the user. Our first target market was foodcourts in Dubai.
Name & Logo
My friend and I started with basic wire-framing and conception. The idea was simple, so I aimed for a simple solution.
We went back & forth deciding the appropriate name for the service. I suggested Gormet (to convey the variety in a food-court), he counter-suggested Petu (means foodie, in Hindi). But one thing we common, our tagline, fast food faster.
But neither of stuck or rung a metaphorical bell. And after much deliberate discussion, we landed on QuickBytz. Simple. The logo came naturally.
And so, it began.
First Prototype
I had little experiecne for designing mobile applications as most of work revolved around website and graphic designing. But surely, I gave a try to design for Android platform so it is easier for our coder to develop.
I used Adobe Photoshop for first prototype.
Final Product
The final design for iOS platform was designed keeping in mind multitudes of features and user experience.
Software Used: Bohemian Coding Sketch. And it was a bliss.
Font: SanFrancisco Family
Followed by consumer-side iOS design is web-based administrator panel. Admin Panel along with Restaurant & Branch Panel makes the back-end of the service.
