Remind me what is Guut again?

We’ve created Guut because there’s a need for a more personalised approach when it comes to health and nutrition. Diets are too generic, information from testing is great, but hard to implement, and most of all they overlook the lifestyle, hopes and dreams of the person. The question we’re trying to answer is: ”How do you operate best?” We look for outcomes like more energy, better focus, improving sleep and managing stress.

We connect lifestyle information with DNA and Gut test results to create a more holistic overview of one’s health. Our health coaches then help to translate the scientific advice and recommendations into a framework that help our customers make better decisions.

The beta or maybe it was the alpha?

We recruited a test group and offered a range of tests going from at-home DNA and Gut tests, to lifestyle surveys and coaching calls. Over the summer, we worked with a team of experienced nutritionists and health coaches in the US and Belgium, who helped to combine the various datasets and create meaningful insights for our clients.

Translating the very scientific and sometimes generic data proved to be challenging. Managing the logistics was another big hurdle but the v0.1 shipped just in time.

Instead of releasing all the information just onto a digital platform, we decided to ship a printed booklet with the highlights of our test audiences’ health and nutritional insights. The feedback was great, and we’ll undoubtedly continue to build this physical artefact for our future clients.

What’s the most important thing we’ve learned?

Well, it’s putting the health coach in the pole position. We believed the DNA and Gut tests would be the most significant reason for clients to sign up. Instead, we learned that the role of the health coach, and the relationship that is built, is far more valuable. It’s health coaching enabled by science and technology. Not leveraging science and tech with health coaching. The goal is to become more efficient in how we coach and how we communicate with our clients.

What’s next?

We’re processing all of our customer feedback and preparing to launch officially. It’s time to boot up the sales engine, and we’re looking forward to starting the conversations with so many people who reached out and showed interest in our company.

If you know anyone that would be interested in talking to us or could benefit from what we’re doing, your help is invaluable. You can forward this mail or share our link. Hit reply if you have any questions or feedback. Thanks again for helping out, spreading the word and all the support we’ve received.
