Thursday, March 24, 2022, will forever hold a significant place in history for women’s soccer in the upstate. It was a packed house of soccer fans at HabiTap for the brand reveal of Greenville’s USL W-League team set to kick off their inaugural season this summer.

Without further ado, the new team will be called Greenville Liberty! The crest shares plenty of synergy with the Triumph and leans into the light blue and navy with a sprinkle of yellow in the yellow jessamine on the crest.

The brand identity of the team has been a fan-driven initiative from day one. Soccer fans from the upstate were encouraged to submit ideas that were ultimately pared down to five options: Ascent, Glory, Liberty, Spark, and Wrens. Fans were then asked to vote for their favorite. That vote served as one of the metrics in the ultimate decision.

The Greenville Liberty are led by Head Coach and Technical Director Julie Carlson. The team has already announced a number of signings and will continue to add to the roster in the lead up to the season. Merchandise for the newly branded team can be purchased online or by visiting the Greenville Triumph team store at 22 South Main Street in Greenville.

The USL W-League is a pre-professional women’s league aiming to develop female soccer talent and provide a pathway to professional play for their athletes. The Greenville Liberty will play 12 regular season matches beginning on May 15th in Charlotte, but will get things rolling with a pre-season exhibition match on May 8th at Legacy Early College. You can purchase season tickets for the team HERE.
