The benefits of doing the barbell good morning

Good mornings are among the most beneficial lower back, hamstring, and glute accessory exercises that not a lot of people tend to do. Like a lot of other exercises, if your form is on point with these the benefits are vast. You can also play about with your stance for varying results, wide, narrow or even V-Stance as shown above.

3 Benefits of the Good Morning

Lower Back Health
The good morning is an accessory exercise that strengthens and develops the spinal erectors, glutes, and hamstrings. Movements like back squats, deadlifts, and other weightlifting movements all require spinal stability, so by developing stronger lower back muscles and hips can aid in your overall workout performance (and injury prevention).

Glute & Hamstring Muscle
The good morning will not only help you to massively increase hamstring and glute strength and size, but also help you to move a lot better, increasing flexibility and mobility which will transfer over to most of your other main lifts.

Upper Back Strength
Exercises like the good morning can be used to increase the strength in your lower and upper back. Enhancing upper back tension and lower back stability can help with exercises such as the squat when some people tend to start leaning forward under control, so a stronger upper back will help maintain a stronger more stable, upright position.
