High calorie burners for a smokin’ bod!

Mixing weight training and cardio while in a calorie deficit is one sure fire way to start leaning down for the hotter seasons, but if you really want to intensify your workouts and increase your metabolic rate or overall calorie burn in your session, here is 5 great exercises to implement:

  1. Stairmaster ▶️
    We covered this in another blog. The stairmaster is one of the best cardio choices for burning the most amount of calories in one session. You can build up to an awesome 800–1400 calories per hour on this baby.
  2. Turkish Get Ups ▶️
    These are simply one of the most beneficial, full-body exercises you can do and not to mention, fantastic for your core. Skip the crunches and add these in instead, you won’t be sorry!
  3. Barbell Bear Complex ▶️
    Complexes have you running through a series of movements in one set without dropping the bar and burn some serious calories. The bear complex is no different, a mixture of the clean, front squat, push press, back squat, then another push press. Not for the feint hearted this one!
  4. Outside Kettlebell Swings ▶️
    The outside leg swings can help build up a powerful posterior chain, massively work your core stabilisation and improve your metabolic rate due to the complexity of the movement. Give these a try for a serious mix up in your training.
  5. Knee Plank Pull ▶️
    This bodyweight movement burns!!! Recommended on a leg day as a metabolic exercise following your heavier lifts, try doing these Tabata style, 20 seconds work, 10 seconds rest for 8 rounds. Don’t underestimate this one, it’s challenging.
