Even famous Marvel comic struggle to make a breakthrough within the Manga universe. Spider-Man is the last example of that to date. Despite an original and well-drawn story, Spider-Man Fake Red — the official manga based on Marvel Spider-Man for Playstation 4 — has officially ceased its serialization after 15 chapters, scenarist/drawer Yūsūke Ōsawa has announced via his Twitter account;

Began in November 2019, his author said ‘to be quite disappointed’. Exclusively available digitally, Ōsawa did not enjoy for long the good debut of his first volume. In fact, while the series was progressing, sellings were decreasing — a situation that Kodansha — the editor of Spider-Man Fake Red — noticed.

Via Twitter, Ōsawa also stated that Spider-Man Fake Red won’t — in all likelihood — go beyond Japanese borders. In fact, no English translation is known scheduled for the moment.

Spider-Man, therefore, joins the long list of comics which attempted to get a place under the Rising Sun and failed. For the moment only. It is not impossible to see another Spider-Man turned into manga again.
