My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising. A Review

Anime. Released in December 2019 in Japan, the second movie based on Horikoshi’s manga has shown to fans an amazing written story, successfully concluded by one of the greatest battle scenes of the genre.

Longhope Philia in the background, Two Heroes’ ending showed All Might giving a worried look to Midoriya after the harsh fight won against Wolfram, the main villain of the movie. Obvious for many fans of the series, this look could be sum up in one sentence: “Today, I’ve been able to fight alongside you but, you’ll soon be on your own against whatever threat you may face in the future”.

And this is exactly what Heroes: Rising is all about. While Two Heroes — the first movie of the franchise — incorporated the Symbol of Peace as one of its main protagonists, Heroes: Rising, instead, rings the bell of a new era led by Midoriya and Bakugo.

Everything in this movie goes along with this version. In the absence of top heroes like Endeavor or Professor Aizawa, UA students are on their own. Heroes: Rising, therefore, marks a clear scission with Two Heroes. While the latter implied that All Might — though weakened — would be able to help, the former has a vibe saying: You’re all on your own now
