I’m Ian Smith, co-founder and president of the H.E.A.T. Establishment — a social service organization. After having our FIFTH all-chapter, executive conference I can say it’s always an honor to spend three days with the future of this organization — reflecting, presenting, and planning upcoming campaigns to make Earth a better place.

The Conference

The SUM of the Parts conference is a weekend of H.E.A.T., from the sun and the organization. Our executives from all of our chapters come together for one weekend of team building, brand education, and new connections. Our execs get a chance to listen in on talks from within the local community, H.E.A.T. specific panels, and hear about the new accomplishments from the organization. All work and no play makes sounds really cold to us so we always try to make the weekend include fun at every corner, but we’ll save the fun stuff for last.

Check out the Saturday morning recap below!

Recap + Candid Photos

Saturday — in town

After the morning formalities, we gathered at Cattery Lounge & Snackery for a talk on developing community partnerships from Executive Director, Heather Aidala. The work Cattery Lounge is doing is H.E.A.T.’d to the max. Check out the photos and a few reasons why this’ll be your next stop on the Square in San Marcos, TX.

The Squad with Heather Aidala, Executive Director of Cattery Lounge & Snackery
  • It’s going to be a great community space for the enrichment of their patrons, cats, and kittens.
  • They are taking care of the cats and kittens until the point of adoption– team no-kill shelter
  • Community engagement = education on adoption and rescue principles
  • It’s right on the Square in San Marcos, TX

Saturday–Recruitment Panel

Later in the morning we had a recruitment panel discussions. Panelist included H.E.A.T. “for life” squad members Kaygan Nielson, Ramces Luna, and Malvika Saklani. Recruitment is something that’s important for any organization. For us, we love adding new H.E.A.T. members and chapters. The more Positive Activism, the better.

So that’s the end of Saturday morning. The afternoon was filled with several talks that covered a wide range of topics helpful to any H.E.A.T. executive.

Part 2 of the recap will be out soon, but in the meantime, give us a follow on Instagram @heat_hq.
