Cohort Stories: Meet Luis
NYC: vol. 2, no. 9— guest post by Luis Jorge
In pursuit of joining Hack.Diversity, I undertook a transformative journey marked by intense learning in Full-Stack Development (nodejs, react/native, css/sass, html), Python (flask, django, SQLAlchemy, pandas, numpy), Java (Spring), and AWS services (IAM, EC2, ECS, EKS, RDS, VPC). I delved into Google Cloud Services, mastered databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, mySQL), and engaged in personal projects. Furthermore, I enriched my knowledge with software engineering at Flatiron School NYC, ventured into data science, and explored D3JS/Excel for diverse charting applications. My commitment extended to joining social media groups, attending cloud events, and expanding networks.
Although facing challenges securing a software engineering role, I embraced self-awareness, acknowledged shared struggles, and resolved to turn shortcomings into motivation; committing to intensified practice, early mornings, and continuous exploration of diverse architectures.
My passion for technology stems from its perpetual evolution, where each advancement uncovers intricate layers of a complex puzzle. The thrill lies in realizing that the methods employed to unravel one technological challenge become the foundation for solving the next. This dynamic process, enriched by diverse learning approaches, adds to the fascination. Exploring deeper levels of well-known technologies like Windows, Linux, and AppleOS offers a humbling and rewarding journey. My goal is to identify optimal intersections between programming languages and operating systems/networks/devices, respecting their origins, and contributing to shaping the future with innovative OS/software developments.
During my tenure at Hack.Diversity, I anticipate engaging in advanced projects that surpass my current knowledge, fostering an environment for continuous learning and collaborative problem-solving with my Cohort members. This experience will expose me to diverse perspectives on design, efficiency, interactivity, scalability, research, creativity, and trial-and-error. The collective journey of knowledge-building among fellow creators will boost our confidence in constructing innovative solutions. The realization that we are all contributors to a shared tower of knowledge inspires the aspiration to collaborate globally, fostering creativity to address a multitude of challenges. Hack.Diversity provides an opportunity to connect with like-minded creators, determined to build better towers using cutting-edge technology.
