Growing up, I always knew that I loved math and science. That said, if you were to ask what I wanted to be when I grew up, the answer would always change. I often attended after-school programs. One in particular — Eureka — was focused on exposing younger girls to STEM careers. From grade 7 through high school, this program had monthly meetings with activities to learn about STEM opportunities. Ever since then, I knew I wanted to be an engineer. I also gained a new appreciation for career readiness programs. This led me to find two more professional development programs throughout my college career and learn about the Hack.Diversity community.

It is somewhat cliché, but I get excited about the endless applications for technology. Using technology, I am able to partake in creating a product that positively impacts my community. It is an amazing feeling.

I am especially interested in technology driving accessibility and inclusion in the creation of new products. A goal of mine is to become a conscious developer that considers and includes different abilities.

High school and college have helped me find the subfield that I want to go into for career opportunities. While I have more clarity, I still don’t know enough to see the path for how to get there. I believe my time with Hack.Diversity will allow me to create a clear career plan that I haven’t been able to do yet.
