Cohort Stories: Meet Kenya

There were a few milestones in my journey to Hack Diversity. To be completely transparent I was rejected the first time around, I applied back in 2023 and got rejected but I really liked the program and told the team early on “I’ll be back.” I am thrilled that I was accepted into the 2024 Cohort as an early decision Fellow. I like to be true to my word very often. I mean what I say and I say what I mean and follow through.
What excites me about technology is all of the possibilities for what could be done with it. Many people see technology or STEM in general as a rigid and hard course; and while yes, there are the ridgid parts of the path, it’s only because you as a person learn how to make it more flexible and tailored to you. I come from an art background so I already had an idea of how to play fast and loose with some ideas. Not too loose but loose enough so that they could fit into my idea of what should work and what shouldn’t. Technology is just that — turning rigid ideas flexible.
What motivates me about the future is all the new things that can happen.
I remain hopeful that new and exciting and positive things can happen all the time every day in little ways.
Whether it be a new technology comes out that can cure a disease once thought uncurable or something really small like I got extra chicken in my chipotle bowl. A win is a win honestly.
