My greatest source of pride is my family, particularly my mother, Rosa Tejeda. My father left when I was twelve, leaving my mother to be a single mother of three, me being the youngest. My mother’s resilience and solid work ethic are truly admirable. At 27, she bravely immigrated to the United States from the Dominican Republic without knowing a word of English and leaving her comfort zone and family behind. She tirelessly provided for us and managed to reunite our family in the U.S. within two years. Over the course of 16 years, she evolved from an immigrant working two jobs to a successful business owner. I was amazed at how smoothly she managed a team of over 30 employees. Her journey exemplifies the epitome of hard work, determination, and the power of an unyielding spirit. I am the proud daughter of a single immigrant mother.

My fascination with technology started at the age of 10. Two years after moving to the US, a Boston Public School teacher gifted us an old Mac or Linux computer in the late 1990s, marking a transformative moment. This was life-changing. I fell in love with computers. This was before we had access to dial-up internet. We were limited to programs like Corel, and some word game with a toucan. From there, my mother made sacrifices to continue to buy us newer computers as time passed. I learned how to troubleshoot issues, prevent viruses, and clean up viruses as much as I could. These hands-on experiences not only shaped my technical skills but also fueled my curiosity for the ever-evolving world of technology.

My motivation for shaping my future career stems from the desire to attain both personal fulfillment and financial stability, essential pillars in supporting my family. The possibility of making a substantial impact and contributing to positive change serves as a powerful motivator.

I eagerly anticipate the role of being a guiding influence and look forward to mentoring fellow students in the upcoming chapters of my journey.

The opportunity to tackle real-world challenges spanning diverse domains, whether in technology, science, or societal matters, profoundly inspires me. I am enthusiastic about the potential to innovate, collaborate, and create solutions that enrich the lives of individuals and the world at large. I am very passionate about continual personal growth and learning. I want to remain adaptable and relevant in the technology world.
