Let’s dive deeper…

Q: Why are you interested in working with computers and technology?

One of my professors from when I was still studying in the Dominican Republic introduced me to working in technology and networking. He inspired me to pursue a career in the IT field. He became a role model for me!

Q: How do you feel about starting your internship?

I feel nervous and excited. I’m excited because this will be a new experience for me, and that makes me excited. On the other hand, I’m nervous because I don’t want to let anyone down. So far, everything is good; the Hack.Diversity team is very welcoming. They know that some of us are just starting out in the field, so they advise us on what we need to do in order to succeed.

Q: What’s your proudest accomplishment to date?

When I got my Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification, it was the first time in my life that I decided to put my mind to a goal after I completed my studies.

Q: Has your Hack.Diversity journey so far been what you expected?

It is way more than I expected. At the beginning, I was thinking that Hack.Diversity will just be an internship and no more. I didn’t realize how big this was, and how much the Hack.Diversity Network wants us to succeed.

Q: How do you want to change the world? How do you want to change the tech scene?

I would like to see more opportunities for students to learn about methods and solutions that experts are using in the real world, in real-time, and not have to settle for the information from a book that’s five years old.

Carbonite internships will start on May 15th. Stay tuned for Thursday’s “Meet Our Cohort vol. 1, no. 8.” ICYMI, meet the interns we’ve already introduced!
