There isn’t a hackathon in your area because you haven’t thrown it yet.

There’s something crazy about realizing you’re the person at your school who needs to throw the hackathon.

It’s exciting at first but next thing you know it feels like the weight of the world is on your shoulders. Failure is not an option, yet every week another person tells you it’s impossible.

When I first met Alex Kern, I knew right away that it was up to him to do something big. Berkeley has an army of hackers just up the bart from San Francisco. This past weekend, he delivered — Cal Hacks just set the bar for hackathons on the West Coast.

Nothing can stop these kids.

The hackathon movement is inevitable — since the semester began, we’ve had more 1000+ student hackathons than weekends.

The only reason there isn’t a mega hackathon in your area is because you haven’t thrown it yet.

That said, it’s going to take a ton of hard work.

This one goes out to the hackathon organizers. Wherever you are.

You are changing people’s lives.

I’m finishing the Book of Hackathon soon — it will tell you everything you need to know to throw an epic hackathon.
