- Bioinformatics is just coding. Most bioinformaticians have domain or basic knowledge in biology. They collect, study and analyse biological data. Sometimes they even go back to the wet lab! Essentially, they provide solutions!
- You need a computer science background to get into bioinformatics. Not necessarily, if you have a degree in life or health sciences you can get into Bioinformatics.
- Bioinformatics is not equal to genomics. Genomics is not the only branch of bioinformatics. Others are transcriptomics, proteomics etc
