It has been said that Africa needs an Industrial Revolution and it’s true. We used to be able to create, but we somehow went on vacation when the Industrial Revolution took place and returned to meet the Information age. And this has come at a cost — we risk being stuck in the consumer bubble forever. To inspire an industrial revolution, we need to come together to create.

That’s what the CodeforHebron hackathon is all about.

This hackathon aims to inspire an Industrial Revolution at the roots — the future of our technology industry. Starting with the Covenant University community, this event has been built to create a ripple effect that resonates all across the continent. We hope to foster a community of developers in the University, that would take seemingly small steps to create tools that result in communal growth and development.

Business minds. Graphic designers. Product managers. Code slingers. Enthusiasts. Visionaries.

Given the opportunity to pitch their projects to top-level business leaders, they will surely grab this chance and become catalysts for change. They will create solutions, tools, things and even industries that cut across a vast range of ecosystems.

‘Disruptive’ has often been a label misused to describe ideas that are just simply different. This event will unearth truly disruptive projects and these will be further developed and executed after the winners are announced. The results of this hackathon won’t just be the selection of the most innovative/disruptive project, but will be seen in the resulting solutions and possibly start-ups that are created to help the populace.

This is more than a hackathon, it is a call to action.

We hope you join us in this journey - as a participant or sponsor.
