We love to feature the work, writing and thought leadership from the Hackergal community. Our Hackergals and educators are the heart of the Hackergal program and have endless insights to share!

We always love reading the pieces our community members share with us, so we like to share these pieces with the rest of our community. Here are a few guidelines we have for blog submissions:

What do we publish?

We like to publish work from the topics below! Is there a topic not listed? Send us an email with your blog idea, we’d love to hear it!

  • Computer Science
  • Coding
  • Python
  • Education
  • Gender equality in the technology industry
  • Engaging students in the classroom
  • Your experience in the Hackergal program

How to submit:

  1. Create a Medium account. We want your name to be beside your post! To write with us, you need to create a Medium account. You can sign up with your Facebook, Gmail or create a new account. In doing this, your piece, will be featured in the Hackergal blog and your personal Medium profile.
  2. Submit a draft to Hackergal. You can write your piece for submission directly on Medium, it will automatically save in your browser. Send us a link to your unpublished draft to hello@hackergal.org, we will review it and provide our feedback!
  3. Once submitted, we will let you know our thoughts on your story and YOU can publish it directly to our publication.

We welcome all submissions, but unfortunately we can’t publish every submission.

Even if your story isn’t published on the Hackergal publication, you can still publish your story on your personal Medium! We would love to “like” and “comment” on your story wherever it is published.

General Policies:

  • All student submissions from Hackergals under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a Hackergal media release form.
  • Hackergal is an inclusive community. Under no circumstance will we publish gossip or unkind words.
  • Educators need to include the hashtag: educatorstory, Hackergals need to include the hashtag: hackergalstory. Any other tags you want to include are up to you! Medium allows you to include up to 5 hashtags. Some examples of popular hashtags are: coding, computer science, edtech, technology, education and girlsintech.
  • We encourage writers to include an image with their blog posts! When including an image please cite the source in the image caption. If it is your personal image, please indicate that.

Happy writing Hackergal!
