A Recognized Open Alternative
David Beisel over at NextView Ventures created a diagram showing all of the companies that make up the voice computing market. I don’t know David ( though we are connecting next week ) so it was very exciting to see him identify Mycroft as the open source alternative to the Silicon Valley giants.
If you look closely at the diagram you’ll see that Mycroft appears as a “Core Service Platform” next to Facebook’s Jarvis, Google’s Assistant, Apple’s Siri, Amazon’s Alexa and Microsoft’s Cortana.
Since we have 11 full time employees and Google has 65,000 it is humbling to be included in the same category as they are.
The team here at Mycroft is working hard to live up to the community’s expectations. In the next few days Steve Penrod’s team will release PiCroft — a Mycroft image developed to run on a RaspberryPi 3 right out of the box. Soon after ( in the next couple of weeks ) we’ll have *.dpkg and *.rpm packages so that developers can easily install Mycroft on the Linux desktop.
Having an open alternative in this space is important and we’re proud to be filling that need.
