ANU #3 — MWC and App Store Foundation
AppCoins News Update, or ANU for short, is a regular bi-weekly update by the AppCoins team. As usual we are going to cover dev updates, market reports, team members and upcoming events. This week’s focus is on the status update regarding the App Store Foundation website and wallet, along with the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) event. You may expect the next ANU during MWC on February 28th.
For the last two weeks we’ve been working on the first deliverables due to 26th of February and 21st of March. These deliverables are being developed in the context of the App Store Foundation (ASF), which will be created by the end of the year to foster the collaboration between the several different parties that play a role in the mobile app economy: developers, app stores, OEMs, and end-users.
The ASF website will be up by the 26th of February, which coincides with the Mobile World Congress (MWC), where part of the AppCoins team will be present to showcase our technology and talk with potential partners that want to take part in the disruption of the mobile app economy.
At the moment, we’re finishing the first version of the website’s layout and code. We’ve also finished the first draft of the content that will be presented in the website. The content might still be slightly changed in order to improve the communication about and the value proposition of the Foundation and the protocol.
Regarding the AppCoins wallet, it will be ready by the 21st of March and will be loaded with the necessary functionalities to enable users to buy in-app items in apps that integrate the AppCoins protocol. We’re basing the ASF wallet in the Trust Wallet. We will detail in a different article why we decided to base our wallet in another open source project.
The ASF wallet is going to provide standard wallet functionalities:
- Show AppCoins, Ether and other ERC20/ERC223 token balances.
- Conduct transactions and see it’s status.
- Import/export accounts.
In addition, it will implement the functionalities of the EIP-681 (the actual PR and discussion can be seen here) in order to ease the purchase of in-app items. The user will select the items to buy and upon clicking in the corresponding Buy button inside the app, the app will launch the wallet with all the required transaction data already preloaded. The user will just need to click a button to execute the transaction and the wallet will redirect back to the app for the confirmation of the purchase.
Our intent is to make the buying of in-app items as simple, fast and secure as possible.
In the following weeks we’re going to provide an example of the purchase of an in-app item using our wallet. In the meantime, feel free to follow the development of the ASF wallet its our GitHub page.
AppCoins Video Updates (AVUs)
Last week we’ve also launched an initiative intended to answer some key questions in an interview-like format with one of the dev team members. The AVU #1 can be seen below.
We believe that linking the project with real faces and people will definitely bring the community closer. We also think that it will increase discussion and collaboration between AppCoins and the community following our work.
The value continues to be tied mainly to BTC, and its value has remained stable close to 0.60 USD for the last two weeks. You can see more info about APPC markets at Coinmarketcap.

Mobile World Congress is the world’s largest gathering for the mobile industry, organised by the GSMA and held in the Mobile World Capital, Barcelona, 26 February — 1 March 2018. Each year it has more than 100K attendees and 2.300 exhibitors.
All the big names from OEMs, app stores and mobile app developers will be represented there, and its the place where all the major deals are closed. Our goal is to on-board as many app stores, OEMs and developers as possible into the protocol.
We believe that this is the key to AppCoins growth.
AppCoins will have a stand where the AppCoins MVP will be demonstrated as a live demo, and where you can directly meet the AppCoins team.
