Are you working on a real problem or you just ended up creating one?

To make a dent in the world, I quote “God help those people who help themselves”. The start-ups are increasing exponentially day by day because a large number of people believes that they can solve the problem efficiently and economically. But, a large number of start-ups goes down too because of lack of motivation, encouragement of the team, improper planning, improper tool and ineffective marketing strategy.

Hence, before opening a start-up, we must ask for ourselves whether the idea we are implementing is worth it. That, are we working on a real problem or we just end up creating one?

So, is it worth opening a startup before properly playing with the idea. By without properly analyzing the idea and thinking to figure it out on the go and then working on countless hours just to know that they are futile. A lot of people end up saying to me-” Hey Piyush, we want to start a start-up. We are ready to learn new technologies and work as hard as possible. But we don’t have any idea.

Let me tell you this —

Every Idea is worth a billion dollar.

We all wait for the time where the perfect idea will strike us. That will be the billion-dollar idea that we would have been waiting for. But, sadly for most of us, that billion-dollar idea never struck and we end up doing nothing instead of procrastination.

Should I start working on any idea that comes to me?

Generally, a lot of ideas come to us when we talk to peers, co-workers and other people. We should not work on any idea that comes to us. Instead, if we feel that this idea has a potential of solving some real-life problems, then we should go for it. We must analyze and gain knowledge regarding:

1- The competitors that you have currently and what can you give that others can’t?

2- Work on your idea. Question every dimension and work out a detailed implementation. You should at least spend the week analyzing ideas and its
pros and cons.

3- Ask for the expert advice and other people what do they think about the issues.

So, if any idea occurs to you, then just implement it. If you are not one of the CS nerds, then connect with some people and make them believe in your start-up. I suggest that do not connect with your family and close friends, because if things go side way and most of the time they will, then you may end up losing your family relative and close friends too which is a very big loss if you think about it.

Let me give you some example of the real-life problems:

1- We need a platform where we can effectively found co-founder. A lot of places are available but the trust issues are not good in these websites. What we need to do is to create an online forum where developers can connect with each other and then show them their work.

2- We don’t have a saloon locator. A saloon locator is a product which tells us the location of the saloon. It also tells us whether the saloon is for male/female. Our main competitors in this are Justdial and Google.

3- A call priority scheduler — It should schedule the calls of the higher priority before the lower priority. For instance, if we are talking to a friend in the free time and our boss just calls in for fixing the important bug of a software which has its release the next day. If he hears our call busy, then he just going to get more irritated. What our software does is that he prioritizes the
call of over boss, keeping the phone hold for that friend and then resume when everything is over.

Hence, we must work on the ideas that we believe in and which we are able to make others understand. These may not be the real problems for someone, so we must keep a target audience to whom our product should be distributed which is also very important. A large number of people vaguely target a huge mass of audience, thereby destroying their time and resources. If you have any
other idea, I am happy to discuss its implementation and publish here if you like.
