With a remarkable shift in a way the industries are commercializing, the growth in enterprise video platforms came out as a byproduct. Earlier, when the digitalization was in its nascent stage, it was comparatively simpler to upload a video on YouTube and make it accessible there. However, with the rising impetus of several companies relying on the enterprise video platform, sources like YouTube, which serves a mix of information and entertainment lagged due to various drawbacks.

Years ago, the industry-related information was shared through PowerPoint, text documents, PDFs, or emails. This information is now shared in the form of images and videos. In fact, videos are a better-preferred source as compared to images or text to exchange information, which is backed by a fact that human eyes are more attracted to motion and unexpected change in direction. Besides, people tend to strike a better connection with a video than words. According to a research by Cisco in 2017, the video content is like to lead the IP traffic and is likely to project 80% of Internet traffic by the end of 2021.

The First Step

The first video sharing platform was launched in 1997, named shareyourworld.com. It was a brain-child of Chase Norlin. However, the website does not exist anymore, but Norlin now owns another interesting audio/video search company Pixsy. With the evolution in digital marketing, the trend for videos is also picking pace.

Difference Between EVP and OVP

What makes enterprise video platform different from online video platform is that the former one is mainly designed for business environments. It includes all internal and external business video communication. There are multiple enterprise video hosting platforms available in the market, which customize their services according to the client’s need. Some basic requirements in an enterprise video platform are smooth integration with the present IT landscape, high security, and better tech support.

The main motive behind enterprise video communication is to transfer knowledge regarding work, company, and upcoming projects. This platform is also well suitable for corporate communications, documenting case studies, and success graph of the company.

Some of the major aspects of making enterprise video platform an obvious choice in the market are:

- More streamlined search

Since the enterprise video platforms are designed mainly for information exchange and knowledge transfer, the search of such videos on these platforms become more channelized and streamlined. The number of videos is limited and well-targeted for the particular audience, inside or outside the company, and thus, the search and access of the required videos is much easier.

— Secure hosting

What makes online video platform different from enterprise video platform is the level of security. The enterprise videos might contain important information about the company and other sensitive data, which if leaked can incur huge loss to the company. With the rising incidences of hacking and cybercrimes, there is a pressing need for securing these videos. Digital content, especially when shared outside the company needs a high level of encryption and security of its intellectual properties. A platform, which would provide an on-premise and cloud-storage service is considered of the highest security-level provider.

— Improved monetization options

Platforms like YouTube have very low monetization options. However, EVP provides better monetary alternatives, such as Pay Per View. It has several ways of pricing pay-per-view, which gives them an edge over the competitors in the market.

— Scalable employee training

EVP help in upgrading and improving employee training program by transitioning it from classroom to cloud platform. It has a certain tool and features which are required in virtual classroom teaching, making the sessions easy to grasp. It also reduces the training cost to a large extent.

— Engaging communication

EVP is a better way of interacting with the employees and the audience. As videos are a more attractive form of interaction, viewers tend to connect more easily with the information provided. These days, the companies are making efforts to make their executive communications more interesting, so that they unite their employees and improve business engagement. EVP can be effectively used in the company’s all-hands meetings and town halls meetings.

— Live streaming of corporate events

These videos have a function of live streaming corporate events across the world. This helps in keeping the employees connected and well informed at the same time. This also cuts down the need for hiring third-party companies. It has a one-click live streaming feature, which could help take high-quality keynote and create conference videos at a minimal cost.

So, with the technological advancements and surging adoption of digitalization, the enterprise video platforms are prognosticated to witness a substantial growth in the span of forthcoming years.
