Too much WiFi will spy you, and your kids
How do you make your children’s toys act as real people?
By fostering the Big Data and Cloud great features, of course.
The story made simple
You take a toy (i.e.: a famous doll), give it a WiFi connection, and let it connect it to the Cloud and its Big Data.
Yes: take something like Siri and out it inside a doll’s body.
The result
A doll able to listen, speak and interact with your children.
The counterside
You can take that information and find out a person’s house or business. It’s just a matter of time until we are able to replace their servers with ours and have her say anything we want.
Everything the doll listen, and the Data it collects, moves through the Web to the far servers.
So some researchers were able to hack the connection and listen to everything the doll was listening to (yes: it may be your children, or your personal talking with your partner about personal affairs), and make the doll tell whatever they wanted (yes: a hacker may be able to make the doll tell your children whatever he wants to).
Let’s go further
An enthusiastic researcher has reported finding some device data and called that a hack. While the path that researcher used to find that data is not obvious and not user-friendly, it important to note that all that information was already directly available to Hello Barbie customers through the Hello Barbie Companion App. No user data, no Barbie content, and no major security nor privacy protections has been compromised to our knowledge.
Though ToyTalk’s chief executive Oren Jacob is not persuaded about this issue, it’s a matter of fact that everything that moves through the Net may be caught form other persons.
What is going to happen when the doll will be able to watch your children activity?
What is going to happen when a pedophile will take control to your kids doll and “suggest” them what to do while he’s observing them?
