🐶 A BeagleBone Treat Dispenser for Your Beagle (Or Any Other Dog)

Hacker Elias Bakken has a dog named Moby that he apparently loves to give treats to. So much so that he designed and built a dispenser to help facilitate this process.

To control the device he used a BeagleBone Black (obviously!) which dispenses a treat when a touchscreen displaying a paw is activated. Illustrating this concept, an illuminated bone and arrow pictogram shows the treating process, perhaps to remind nearby humans or Moby how the process works!

The frame is made from Valchromat (a manufactured wood product), which is cut out on a CNC router, and the internal mechanism for releasing the treats is a 3D-printed servo/linkage system. Now all Bakken has to do to feed a treat into the built-in trough is press the paw, or maybe Moby can even do this himself!

Want to recreate one for your own home? Check out Bakken’s entire build on Imgur here.
