A Homemade Disc Shooter!

If you’re bored with destroying such items as ceramic tile, aluminum cans, and eggs using conventional methods, then perhaps this electric disc shooter from Austin Blake is just what you need.

The YouTuber’s homemade device uses a brushless DC motor to fling discs at high speed using a vacuum belt to pull them down the “barrel.” An Arduino Nano along with an ESC is used to regulate this main motor, which can be tuned via a potentiometer.

To shoot multiple discs, up to 27 are stacked in a clear plastic tube, which are pushed into the vacuum belt assembly by another motor.

Right now, the prototype shooter is constructed out of 3D-printed parts and wood. But if you’d like to make your own, Blake plans to make an entirely 3D-printed version, and release the STL files and Arduino code once that’s done.
