Whether you like it or not, this is something that can and may happen. What you want to do is to figure out some solutions very fast.

Try to run the Windows Update troubleshooter

You can download it from https://aka.ms/wudiag and it will help you figure out what happened and how you can eliminate the problems fast. Usually, it will spot the issue and deal with it as fast as possible, with no issues whatsoever.

Restart Windows Update in a Forced manner

Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run “net stop wuauserv”, then run “net stop bits”. Then you have to go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution, delete files from the folder, all of them. You will have to do a restart and then you can start the update service with “net start Wuasuserv” and “net start bits”.

Run DISM command

This can lead to a quick solution. Open up Command Prompt, then use the “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” command. If you use external files to fix the corruption, use “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:C:\RepairSource\Windows /LimitAccess” — change the Repair Source with your own. In CP, add “sfc /scannow” and then you can close the CP and run Windows Update.

Dealing with Windows Update issues is not a pretty sight and it can be a very bad experience for most of us. But with these ideas, you can get some really interesting results. Use this and the overall outcome will be worth it!
